The pictures are okay, but need some work.
Lee Bennett (ATPM Staff) · December 12, 2001 - 20:58 EST #2
I'd love to know what kind of work you think is needed. Perhaps it's something I could actually do.

I think your images are great! I think your website is great and I, also, would love to know what kind of work some people think is needed. You keep up the good work! Kudos to you.

Hi. I think all the lighthouses in this series are wonderful. I collect lighthouses. The pictures are unique and one of a kind and don't need any work. Keep up the great work you do.
Michele · January 31, 2003 - 10:36 EST #5
I think your pictures are great! Just the thought of you sharing them with people who have not been to the Carolinas is great. I'll be vacationing in Avon, NC, this summer. I hear it is beautiful! Thank you, again.

I am also a lover of lighthouses and I find your pictures wonderful. I'd like to thank you for sharing them with us.
Marina Currell · March 20, 2003 - 11:56 EST #7
My son needed to see some pictures of lighthouses for his school topic and your pictures certainly provided him with all the information he needed. THANK YOU.

My grandmother ran one of these North Carolina lighthouses. I think I've got it down to two, but need more info. Your web page is wonderful. Thanks for sharing!
Scott · April 11, 2003 - 10:39 EST #9
I love the lighthouses. They don't need any work. I lived in the Carolinas for 21 years and these really bring back some neat memories. Thanks for sharing.
Larry · May 5, 2003 - 00:29 EST #10
The pictures are great. If the person at the top had enough nerve to say it needs more work, he should have had enough nerve to leave his name and e-mail address.

Could you tell me where you took Currituck Light 2? You took it beneath a bridge, right?
Lee Bennett (ATPM Staff) · May 27, 2003 - 00:00 EST #12
Anonymous - yes beneath a bridge. There's sort of a little park like area adjacent to Currituck's parking area (the parking is in-between the light and the park). The bridge is actually just a small footbridge going over a small canal.

Thanks for posting lighthouse photos. My local library (Santa Fe, NM) has only one junior-reader book about lighthouses--that's all! I'm looking for lighthouse ideas for my next quilt-making project.

G-day from down under. Excellent site. I could not agree more with Larry!! Why people leave stupid comments is beyond me. Anyway, keep up the good work.

Nice pictures. Maybe you could get new ones more often, but yeah, keep it up with the lighthouses. I also personally love pictures of the ocean. Anyhow, thanks.
Lee Bennett (ATPM Staff) · August 27, 2003 - 00:08 EST #16
Idahoan - ATPM's desktop wallpaper series are published strictly by submission. I've submitted the better photos from all of my lighthouse sightseeing excursions. If I ever manage to take another trip to see more, I'm sure to submit them. On that note, ATPM welcomes anyone to submit their own shots (lighthouses or otherwise) for possibly inclusion in a future issue.

These pictures really capture the beauty that is the lighthouse. I'm so glad that I stumbled upon this site! Keep up the good work.

I'm doing a school project and I think your pictures are really wonderful. But, for my project, I need a bit less foliage and a bit more lighthouse!
Lee Bennett (ATPM Staff) · September 13, 2003 - 15:42 EST #19
Less foliage? Try Bill's Lighthouse Getaway.
Steve Ketner · September 25, 2003 - 14:12 EST #20
I love the Outer Banks and lighthouses. Keep it up! Can you get some night pictures?
Lee Bennett (ATPM Staff) · September 25, 2003 - 23:46 EST #21
Steve - hmm, I think I'd love to get some night shots. I have no idea when my next lighthouse sightseeing trip will be, but I'll keep the idea in mind. Generally, when I've gone on such trips, my family has an agenda to see certain spots then get to a particular site to stay overnight. I've only once stayed at a campground that was in vicinity of a lighthouse. It didn't occur to me to take night shots but, as you can see in one of the shots on this page, I did take one at dusk.

Your pictures are great. They don't need any work. I really love the lighthouses. Keep it up!
Bryan · January 17, 2004 - 15:20 EST #23
You need to have more lighthouses pictures up close without so much surrounding areas, but good job on what you do have and for making them available.
Lee Bennett (ATPM Staff) · January 19, 2004 - 11:15 EST #24
Bryan - I happen to like surrounding scenery in my lighthouse photos, therefore that is how I take them (and submit them). We'd by very happy to accept your submission of lighthouse photos for desktop wallpaper images that are composed more to your liking. But I have to point out, when you take a picture of a lighthouse without holding the camera sideways in order to give the orientation suitable for desktop wallpaper, and still pretty much fill the frame top to bottom with the lighthouse (as I did in about 3/4 of these images!), it leaves quite a bit of area in the frame that you have to fill with something!

Does anyone know how I can get a shadowed picture of a lighthouse with the beams shining? I want to be able to type over the lighthouse. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. These lighthouses are very beautiful, by the way. Great job!
Lee Bennett (ATPM Staff) · January 21, 2004 - 23:55 EST #26
Shadowed lighthouse with beams? I don't think I'm following you. Tell ya what, e-mail me directly—lbennett@atpm.com—and elaborate a bit on exactly what you're wanting, and I imagine I can help you out.
Jim · February 5, 2004 - 17:35 EST #27
I think your pictures are great. Do you know where I can find close-up pictures of lighthouse lenses?
Lee Bennett (ATPM Staff) · February 5, 2004 - 17:50 EST #28
There are a couple good photos and a great write-up at Lighthouse Getaway.
Richard · February 19, 2004 - 12:42 EST #29
I just found this site and have nothing to say about it except it is absolutely terrific. Thanks for putting it up and sharing it with so many people. It's just wonderful and I appreciate it so very much. I hope you don't mind, but I'm sharing the site address to some of the seniors I'm teaching so they can learn to download pictures, save them, send them, and incorporate them in documents. It's very helpful to have some great pictures for them to work from rather than dull clip art.

Thank you so very much.
steve ketner · April 11, 2004 - 20:52 EST #30
still luv the pictures..if u can get some shots at night or during a storm...nothing dangerous, just showing how they look when mother nature flares up a bit...thx
JEN · May 1, 2004 - 13:44 EST #31
Hi,
I was looking for pics of lighthouses for a student council campaign( let me be your guiding light) and here I am looking at these. I'm from the Caribbean and they're pretty cool however I never had any personal interest in lighthouses though the first time I ever saw one I said wow... I think it's just becuase that beams hits so far out. So can you tell me what it is about lighthouses that is really so fascinating? Thanks
Tina · June 24, 2006 - 22:39 EST #32
Lee,
First off, nice composition. I really enjoyed your use of light and angles. Being a native-born North Carolinian that was relocated to the midwest I revisit your site when I get homesick ... and I have to admit that I am somewhat of a lover of the lighthouses. Hataras is my personal love, but I am not going to pick on the others! Thanks for sharing...and keep sharing please. Would love to see your other work from one photographer to another.
